Aquatic animals are the second largest category of animals killed in the world, with insects being the largest category. . About a billion are cultivated each year and about a trillion in total are killed each year. The overwhelming majority of fish live very painful and unwell lives, and have been neglected by animal advocates, creating opportunities for welfare improvements. By using the existing infrastructure in nonprofits, academia and regulatory bodies, we can generate and guide momentum for positive change capable of generating billions of dollars each year.
We believe that we are currently on the brink of a vast movement for the welfare of fish and we can ensure that the work carried on in the years to come has the greatest impact for the greatest number of aquatic animals. * Insects represent the first most important category.
